If I lay still enough, I'll cease to exist
Until my phone buzzes
So please do not disturb
Every day hurts in a new way
But it's the same thing over and over
Listening to Alien Lanes
Getting high and wondering
Do you know what the deal is dude?
No, and I'll never know
Over and over

Pollen Love
04:55
|
|||
Buzz around like flies in the yard
Out of this world
Misty moon beside the sun
You and me alone in the park
Out of this world
Afternoon but it's still dark
Out of this world
You come back to me like a worn down key
Sometimes just right, sometimes you have to fight with the locks
Underneath confusion, I'm sure you'll find me
With an eyeful of tears, and a whimper
And a plan to escape, get even with myself
Finally tell all the people I hate
To get out of my life for good
Sell my last guitar, make you some food to eat
Come over, sit next to you out back
Back, way back, way back
Beneath this dusty pollen summer love of mine

Bruised Apples
01:55
|
|||
When I buy my things at the store
And walk back to my home
I try not to drop my apples
Every day gets better and better
I almost feel no pain
Now I'm picking up bruised apples
Thinking, what's the point?
The birds will eat them anyway
And so, try again
God knows, god knows I'll try again
Every day hurts in a new way
But it's the same thing, over and over

Man, I just had the weirdest dream back on the bus there
Do you ever have those dreams that are just completely real?
I mean, they're so vivid, it's just like completely real
It's like there's always something bizarre going on in those
I have one about every two years or something
I always remember 'em really good
It's like there's always someone getting run over
Or something really weird
One time I had lunch with Tolstoy, another time I was a roadie for Frank Zappa
Anyway
So this dream I just had, it was just like that,
Except instead of anything bizarre going on
I mean, there was nothing going on at all
Man, It was like The Omega Man
There was just nobody around
I was just traveling around
You know, staring out the windows of buses and trains and cars, you know
When I was at home, I was, like, flipping through the TV stations endlessly
Reading
I mean, how many dreams do you have where you read in a dream?
Wait man, there was this book I just read on the bus
You know, it was my dream, so I guess I wrote it or something
But, uh, man, it was bizarre
It was like
The premise for this whole book
Was that every thought you have creates its own reality, you know?
It's like every choice or decision you make
The thing you choose not to do fractions off and becomes its own reality, you know
And just goes on from there forever
I mean, it's like
You know, in the Wizard of Oz
When Dorothy meets the Scarecrow
And they do that little dance at that crossroads
And they think about going all those directions
Then they end up going in that one direction
I mean, all those other directions
Just because they thought about it, became separate realities
They just went on from there and lived the rest of their life
I mean, entirely different movies, but we'll never see it
Because, you know, we're kind of trapped in this one reality restriction type of thing

And I can barely tell what's wrong
But it's wrong
Something in the air today feels awful
Every time I open my mouth
The words come out so mangled
So far, so distant, no relation to the point
I'm sorry
I'm sorry but I'm trying to learn
Not to be so sad
Not to be so sad for myself
And talk to you like we never did
In the last five years
Where we smashed into our strings And we smashed into our hearts
Yeah we smashed into our strings
And we smashed into our hearts
Let's smash everything into our hearts
The storm is over
The storm is never over
It'll always return
But I love you
And we're not going anywhere
We're staying where we're safe in the arms of a lover
And I just wanna stay warm
Through the windstorm
And I just wanna stay
Stay warm
Through the windstorm

Can you feel the warmth of the sun coming up?
Can you see that no battles have been won?
It sorta has to rain for the clouds going away to mean anything
